Salem Vein & Aesthetics Center’s providers use state-of-the-art medical technology for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment. Our team has performed over 1,000 catheter-based procedures and were the very first clinic in Oregon to do so.
Rick D. Pittman, MD,
Diplomate of the American Board of Phlebology
Dr. Rick D. Pittman finished his general surgery training at The Swedish Hospital Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, in 1987. He went on to study under Dr. Toshio Inahara, at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Inahara, now retired, was a leader in the United States in the treatment of venous disease, having been the first fellow of Dr. Robert Linton. Dr. Pittman had the privilege of spending three intensive months of study directly under Dr. Walter DeGroot, who is thought by many to be the father of the modern treatment of venous disease.
In 1991, Dr. Pittman moved to the WillametteValley and founded the “Salem Vein Clinic”, which was the first vein clinic in Oregon specializing in the treatment of patients with vein problems.
In 2010, Salem Vein Center changed its name to Salem Vein & Aesthetics Center, to reflect the natural progression and combination of vein treatment with facial aesthetics.
SalemVein & AestheticsCenter uses state-of-the-art medical technology for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment. Over 2,000 catheter-based procedures have been performed here, and they can proudly state that they were the very first clinic in Oregon to offer catheter based
thermal ablation, now known as the Venefit® procedure (formerly known as VNUS Closure).
Dr. Pittman was the first physician in the WillametteValley to begin using therapeutic injections (Sclerotherapy) for the treatment of spider and reticular veins. To date, Dr. Pittman has performed over 20,000 procedures related to vein treatment.
Dr. Pittman has more experience in the treatment of venous disease than anyone in the Pacific Northwest. He is one of a very small handful of Physicians who are Board Certified in Venous and Lymphatic Medicine. Dr. Pittman was the first vascular surgeon to perform the Venefit® procedure in Oregon, Washington and Northern California.
Dr. Pittman has been a member of the AmericanCollege of Phlebology since 1991, and he is a leader in the minimally invasive treatment of venous disease since that time.
Dr. Pittman currently receives referrals from Alaska, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Northern California.
Salem Vascular & Aesthetics Center is a training center for the Venefit® procedure (formerly known as VNUS® Closure) and the diagnosis and treatment of varicose and spider veins. Dr. Pittman has also trained other physicians in the the nuances of sclerotherapy, both surface and ultrasound guided foam and non-foamed sclerotherapy. He has lectured extensively on the subject of Vein Disorder treatment and enjoys teaching. In 1997 Dr. Pittman was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor of Vascular Surgery at OHSU.
