Salem Vein & Aesthetics Center’s providers use state-of-the-art medical technology for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment. Our team has performed over 1,000 catheter-based procedures and were the very first clinic in Oregon to do so.
Rick D. Pittman, MD, FACPh
Board Certified Phlebologist
Dr. Rick D. Pittman finished his general surgery training at The Swedish Hospital Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, in 1987. He went on to study under Dr. Toshio Inahara, at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Inahara, now retired, was a leader in the United States in the treatment of venous disease, having been the first fellow of Dr. Robert Linton, Dr. Pittman had the privilege of spending 3 intensive months of study directly under Dr. Walter DeGroot, who is thought by many to be the father of the modern treatment of venous disease.
In 1991, Dr. Pittman moved to the Willamette Valley and founded the “Salem Vein Clinic”, which was the first Vein clinic in Oregon specializing in the treatment of patients with vein problems.
In 2010, we changed our name to Salem Vein & Aesthetics Center, to reflect the natural progression and combination of vein treatment with facial aesthetics.
Salem Vein & Aesthetics Center uses state-of-the-art medical technology for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment. Over 2,000 catheter-based procedures have been performed here, and we can proudly state that we were the very first clinic in Oregon to offer catheter based thermal ablation in the treatment of venous disease.
Dr. Pittman was the first physician in the Willamette Valley to begin using therapeutic injections (Sclerotherapy) for the treatment of spider and reticular veins and has perfected the minimally invasive treatment with the VNUS® Closure Catheter. To date, Dr. Pittman has performed over 20,000 procedures related to vein treatment.
Dr. Pittman has more experience than anyone in the Pacific Northwest! He is one of a very small handful of Physicians who are BOARD CERTIFIED IN VEIN DISEASE (The American Board of Phlebology). Dr. Pittman was the first person to perform VNUS® closure in Oregon, Washington and Northern California. After almost 10 years of performing this procedure, he has accumulated 2000+ procedures of experience.
Dr. Pittman has been a member of the American College of Phlebology (the study of vein disease) since 1991, and he has been a leader in the minimally invasive treatment ofvenous disease since that time.
Dr. Pittman currently receives referrals from Alaska, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Northern California.
We are a training center for the VNUS® Closure technique and the diagnosis and treatment of varicose and spider veins. Dr. Pittman has trained physicians from all over the country in the nuances of sclerotherapy, both surface and ultrasound guided foam and non-foamed sclerotherapy. He has traveled and lectured extensively throughout the United States and Europe.
